What it does

A speech synthesizer gets some words wrong: “AI” in a Polish call sounds “a-i”, the company name “Medicus” does not sound the way the owner says it, and a surname with a foreign spelling gets mangled. In the pronunciation dictionary you enter such a word once and say how it should sound. The agent says it that way in every call, on the phone and in the widget.

Setting it up

  1. Open the agent editor, the Settings tab, the Pronunciation dictionary card.
  2. Turn the switch on.
  3. In Word, type the word the way the agent writes it, e.g. AI.
  4. In Say it as, type it the way it should sound, e.g. ej aj.
  5. For abbreviations, tick Aa. The replacement then only applies when the letter case matches, so AI does not change ai.
  6. Click Add a word for the next one. Up to 100 words fit.
  7. Click Save, then Publish. A test call from the editor hears the dictionary as soon as it is saved.
Type a sentence in Try a sentence to see what the agent will say after the replacement.

How the replacement works

  • Whole words are replaced. AI does not change part of MAIL, and Polish letters count as part of a word.
  • Without Aa, letter case does not matter: medicus also replaces MEDICUS and Medicus.
  • An entry can have several words, e.g. sp. z o.o. → spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością.
  • When two entries start at the same place, the longer one wins: AI Studio before AI.
  • Add inflected forms separately, e.g. Medicusa → Medikusa.
Only what the caller hears changes. The prompt, SMS, e-mails and summaries stay as they are. With Brosbots and ElevenLabs voices the call transcript is built from what the synthesizer said, so it can show the spoken form, e.g. “ej aj”.

Dictionary or prompt

The agent already writes numbers, dates and symbols the way they are spoken. The dictionary is for words the model does not know or says differently from how you want: proper names, abbreviations and brand names.
