# API keys and provider keys

> API keys let you trigger Brosbots agents from external systems, while provider keys connect your own AI provider accounts (BYOK).

### API keys

An API key lets you trigger a voice agent from an external system - e.g.
from n8n, Zapier or your own code via the [REST API](/en/api-reference/introduction).

You create and revoke keys at
[app.brosbots.com/api-keys](https://app.brosbots.com/api-keys)
(in the dashboard, click your account in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar, then **Brosbots API**).

<Warning>
  Copy the key right away and store it securely - it's the only moment you
  can view it. If you lose it, delete the old key and create a new one.
</Warning>

When you create a key you can give it an **expiry date**. The key works until
the end of that day (UTC); after that every call gets `401`, as for a deleted
key. In the key list it is marked **Expired**. Without a date the key does not
expire. A date is worth setting for a key you hand to a contractor or use for
a trial integration.

In the API this is the `expires_at` field (ISO 8601) of
`POST /api/v1/user/api-keys`; a date in the past is refused with `422`.

### Provider keys (BYOK)

From the **Pro** plan up you can connect your own AI provider accounts
(OpenAI, Groq, Google, Deepgram - and on the Business plan all remaining
providers). Add keys in **Account → Provider keys**. Once a key is added,
the provider appears in the selection lists in agent configuration - see
[Model configuration](inference-providers).
